| Richard Grant Lecture - August 6th |
| Posted on: 2010-07-26 20:41:15 |
!!! SPECIAL SUMMER EVENT !!!Richard D. Grant, Jr., Ph.D. WHEN: Friday, August 6, 7:30-9:30PM WHERE: First Unitarian Church, 4700 Grover Ave Cost: $12 members; $15 non-members, $8 students with a valid student photo ID **CEU's available upon request** This presentation examines national institutions and monuments and their positioning around the Washington Mall as a mandala of the American Dream. Over many years, the Capitol, white House, Lincoln Monument, Jefferson Memorial, and the Washington Monument were built around this "Field of Dreams," which has traditionally been the site of collective expression/protest/celebration by the American people. What can this "Field of Dreams" teach us about the balance of forces whose creative tension produces an ever-renewing vision for the United States of America? This examination will be personalized for audience members through the four psychological temperaments, which seem to parallel these much-visited national landmarks.
The presenter is Richard D. Grant, Jr., Ph.D., a psychologist in private practice in Austin, Texas. He has taught at Auburn University and Texas A&M University, and is presently a lecturer at the University of Texas' Mccombs School of Business. For the past twenty-five years he has conducted retreats and seminars on psychological type, depth psychology, and spirituality. His books include The Way of the Cross: Christian Individuation and Psychological Temperament, Symbols of Recovery: The 12 Steps at Work in the Unconscious, and Recovering Connections, which he co-authored with Andrea Miller in 1992.
